The summer of 2004 will always be remembered as the “Summer of the Dog” for the Ducey's for it was then that “Irish Dog” was born. Kelly Ducey had been a Bloody Mary connoisseur for several years prior to ’04, but was rarely impressed with the many attempts to make this historic drink. One afternoon, Kelly craved a Bloody Mary that would be tasty enough to enjoy throughout a hot summer's day on the golf course. As Kelly and her husband, Steve, decided where to go, they realized that every place had a flaw with their Bloody Mary. Some were too spicy and some too bland. Steve grew tired of hearing about what was wrong with every Bloody Mary in the area, so he went to the store, picked up every ingredient that he thought should be included in the perfect Bloody Mary and went to work. What he thought would be a weekend project turned into a year-long obsession with many trials and tribulations.

By the summer of 2005, the perfect combination of spice and flavor was created. Steve and Kelly shared it with all their friends and family. Noone could deny that Steve had concocted the perfect Bloody Mary, and everyone insisted that he bring his mix to every social gathering the couple attended. A few years later, Steve and Kelly decided their friends and family shouldn’t be the only ones enjoying this perfect Bloody Mary, so the two of them set out to start a company and sell their popular drink.

Irish Dog was launched in 2009 and was named for the couples two Chihuahuas, Sadie and Tucker. Since Kelly and Steve Ducey are both Irish and the two dogs are their 'kids', they are technically Irish Chihuahuas! Irish Dog also describes the mixes light-hearted attitude and ability to bring friends and families together to tell stories and share laughs at the pub. It puts the bite back into the Bloody Mary!
